What is reclaimed wood and where do you obtain it?
We reclaim our antique lumber from a variety of sources, such as old buildings, barns, mills, and other antique structures, primarily in the Appalachian Mountains. We obtain heart pine from Philadelphia, oak from the Amish country of Pennsylvania, cypress from the coastal Carolinas, and river recovered from Louisiana. The wood used to construct these buildings and barns was originally harvested anywhere from 100 to 300 years ago, when it was used to build America. All of our reclaimed wood is old growth wood and is salvaged and recycled to produce stunning flooring, paneling, columns and mantels for your home or office.
What We Do:
Historic Flooring specializes in flooring, wall coverings, trim and accessories produced from reclaimed antique and old growth wood with an emphasis on Heart Pine, Oak and Wormy Chestnut. The wood we use to produce Historic Flooring products was originally harvested anywhere from 100 to 300 years ago, when it was used to build America. We recue most of the wood from old barns, factories, cotton mills and other antique structures, many of which are Circa 1700s 1800s. The remainder is responsibly harvested Old Growth Lumber.
